Job Description & Requirements
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
A. Experience (this is what makes the role senior)
- At least 8 to 10 years in middle office, product control or treasury operations at a bank or financial institution, with genuine hands-on depth and not only supervisory exposure.
- Solid command of LCH and OTC derivatives, in particular interest rate swaps and cross-currency swaps. The person should understand mark-to-market, discounting and margin mechanics well enough to validate a valuation independently, not only record what the counterparty sends.
- Strong knowledge of treasury products across money markets, FX, fixed income and derivatives, including SAIBOR and SOFR based instruments and SAR/USD cross-currency considerations.
- Working understanding of ISDA and CSA documentation and the margin logic behind it.
- A track record of identifying and resolving valuation and margin disputes with counterparties.
B. Core responsibilities
- Independent validation of OTC derivative valuations and review of counterparty and valuation agent marks, with the standing to challenge and resolve differences.
- Independent price verification and valuation of the sukuk and investment portfolio, including profit distributions, redemptions, calls and other corporate actions.
- Margin call and collateral management under CSA, including verifying calls, agreeing exposures and handling disputes.
- Validation and attribution of treasury and investment P&L, reconciled against front office and finance.
- Trade capture and lifecycle controls, confirming that trades are booked correctly and that resets, fixings, distributions and maturities are handled.
- Oversight of position, cash and valuation reconciliations, with proper investigation and clearance of breaks.
- Ownership of the middle office control framework, covering limits monitoring, exception reporting, escalation and audit support.
C. Systems and tools
- Core banking experience, Temenos T24 preferred.
- Bloomberg, with exposure to custodian or valuation agent platforms such as State Street.
- Advanced Excel, and ideally Power BI or similar for analysis and reporting.
D. Personal qualities
- Works independently, with sound judgement on what to escalate and when.
- Strong control and governance mindset, with the discipline to keep work audit ready.
- A clear communicator who can deal confidently with front office, risk, finance and counterparties, and who can support and develop the junior members of the team.
